About.

Francesca O'Brien is a third year student currently studying a BDes (Hons) in Textile Art and Artifact at The National College of Art and Design, Dublin. Her work can be described as contemporary textile art and is situated between the boundaries of fine art and textile design.

She is inspired by literature, film and the human condition. She enjoys exploring and questioning the subconscious desires and motivations of people’s behavior.

She creates a variation of two and three-dimensional work which ranges from collage to sculptural pieces and uses photography and drawing to inform her work and to document her thought process.
She is interested in costume, performance and narratives and aims to create contemporary art, costume and accessories by using unconventional materials.
