Textile techniques.

Technical projects exploring the possibilities of Weave, Embroidery and Print.

Embroidered textiles.

These are images of some collage and embroidery work from a project with the theme of black and white. It was based on methods of mark-makeing and drawing. I was inspired by spray paint, and its industrial qualities. The 'shadow' left behind creates an image that reminds me of x-rays and shadows left by objects in bright lights. I liked the effects it created by using varying degrees of paint. I created twenty collages of materials I sprayed and their grounds underneath this greatly influenced my embroidery samples as a result.

Printed textiles.

These are samples of some work from a printed textiles project. They are digitally printed fabrics using devore to create interesting ow relief patterns. They were designed for Spring/Summer 2012, to be used as fashion fabrics. My inspiration was taken from Summer picnics and wicker chairs. It's airy outdoor garden party feel encapsulates the summery elegance which I was trying to convey through my designs.

Hand woven textiles.

These are some images from my weave project I was inspired by the patterns and colours of sweets. the cool sugary pastels contrasted with geometric black and white of liquorice all sorts. i looked to the ss'12 catwalks for contemporary uses of colour proportion and combining neons and neutrals in fashion and interiors. i used a combination of flat weave twill and floats to create interesting patterns on a block draft warp.
