​These images are from a project entitled Blue-man, based on the legend of bluebeard,

a tempestous, murderous man. these are a series of rashes illustrating the emergence of

his ture character beneath his charming cool exterior.

A piece of text i wrote to accompany the rashes:​



It began with a tingle, which increased to an irresistible itch,

with each scratch another layer of his pale skin would flake off

to reveal his underlying motives.It became increasingly difficult for him

to disguisehis rash as it multiplied.



His fear and anxiety grew as he feared people would now see true identity,

which had been bubbling underneath his calm exterior. 

As the dry skin turned into colonies of rashes a blue colour appeared, staining the skin. 



​The stained blue skin became darker as he sprouted pustules, boils and warts.

His skin continued to erode until it was weeping insistently a royal blue puss.
The more the rash broke through his skin the more evident his toxic characteristics.

He had spent his life manipulating and conning women.

His face no longer the charming, dewy, boyish complexion but instead the haggard,
wizened face of deceit.
